ACRL-Oregon Membership Meeting
Menucha Conference & Retreat Center, OR
October 28, 2010
MINUTES

The meeting began with a brief game lead by Anna Johnson, V.P. and President Elect.

Jane Scott, President, passed out a one-page synopsis of the past year’s accomplishments and proposed goals for the coming year. Jane explained that the board is directed by the membership and therefore requested input from the membership with regard to the following:

  • A response to OLA’s vision 2020 for ACRL Oregon (after Anne-Marie’s presentation)
  • What the membership would like the board to continue doing
  • What the membership would like the board to begin doing that it is not currently doing
  • Any other input

Anne-Marie Deitering, OLA Member at Large and Coordinator of the Vision 2020 Task Force for
OLA, then spoke about the Vision 2020 report. She explained the process of gathering, processing, and synthesizing the information that resulted in the report. She further explained that the report is “descriptive and not prescriptive, a list of challenges and opportunities that Oregon libraries will face in the next decade”.

It begins with a short list of assumptions and proceeds to list descriptive visionary
statements in the areas of collaboration, people, community, and place. The report is not meant to be a strategic plan but it is meant to be a tool for all divisions and round tables within OLA to use in planning their future goals. OLA is most interested in a response from each division and round table as to how that document speaks to the planning and implementation of next year’s goals.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. for the party with the Washington membership. Jane indicated that she would send out questions to get input from the Oregon Membership.

Respectfully submitted,
Jane Scott
