Chapter 42 - Editorial Policy for OLA Publications

 

42.01 THE PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF OLA PUBLICATIONS

42.011 To report official actions of OLA.

42.012 To serve as a vehicle of communication among the members concerning activities of the Association..

42.013 To report news of Oregon librarians and library activities.

42.014 To report local, regional, and national news which affects the Oregon library community.

42.015 To present information to Oregon librarians on significant print and non-print materials with an emphasis on local and regional.

42.02 EDITORIAL POLICIES

42.021 Reporting should be objective, unbiased, and non-partisan.

42.022 Editorials should be labeled as such

42.023 Reviews may be included for items of particular interest to the state or region.

42.024 All publications should be vehicles for creative idea exchange between libraries and librarians. Commercial products/services should not receive free editorial space.

42.025 Letters to the Editor are welcome and will be published on a space-available basis.

42.026 As a professional courtesy, free copies of newsletters will be sent to organizations of congruent interests, e.g., PNLA, etc

42.027 Advertising space rates are set by the OLA Executive Board in consultation with the chair of the Publications Committee.
