OASL Regions 1 & 4 Spring Conference 2015 RESOURCES Session 1: Gail Dickinson The Way We Do the Things We Do http://tinyurl.com/gaildickinsonOASL What’s up with life in libraryland? In this session, AASL Past-President Gail Dickinson will review the current issues and challenges in school librarianship, and provide a review of resources and strategies to help meet those strategies. Session 2: How One Child Learns http://tinyurl.com/gaildickinsonAASL The library is more than the heart of the curriculum. It's also the emotional center of the school as well. Let's talk about ways the library can reach students in ways that the classrooms can't touch. EdCamp Session Notes: Digital Storytelling Animoto is an online program that allows for free 30-second video creation. Videos are created by choosing images or videos, adding text, and choosing a theme. Music is chosen from a list and the video is produced. VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables users to add images, documents, and videos, and to which other users can add voice, text, audio file, or video comments. You can post your VoiceThread on your website or save it to an MP3 or DVD. TumbleBooks are animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. They are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Use PowerPoint to create dynamic slideshows using hyperlinking and triggers. Analog Storytelling - Learn about StorySLAM and consider hosting one in your school library. |
