OLA Board Retreat

2017 OLA Leadership Retreat on Monday and Tuesday, August 14-15, at Menucha Retreat and Conference Center. All incoming and outgoing Executive Board members, Committee members, Division & Round Table Chairs, and other unit leaders are invited to attend. Thanks to those of you who have signed up already! This annual event gives us an opportunity to tap our collective wisdom to discuss issues, ideas, and needs facing our members and organization and how best we can address these items as an association. In other words, we solve all of problems in Oregon libraries in about 24 hours, because we’re that good!

Okay, maybe not, but we do have some good discussions on the docket. September starts the 2nd year of our 3-year strategic plan. We’ll discuss our progress on the strategic plan and next steps. I’m also hoping we can tackle OLA’s Vision 2020. Believe it or not, 2020 is merely 2.5 years away. The Vision documents started with 2000 and represent what we hope libraries and the communities we serve will look like at the start of each new decade. We’ll see how we’re doing and how our strategic plan fits into our larger vision. I’ll send out a more specific agenda and background material a bit closer to the event.

In addition to the agenda events, there often are informal activities on Monday evening including hiking, partying, and occasional debauchery. Prepare accordingly, including bringing something to share, if you’d like. It’s certainly not required, though! Also, bug spray and sunscreen are highly recommended.

This will be a great opportunity to get to know each other better and help shepherd OLA into the next year. I look forward to seeing you all at Menucha! If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Cheers!
