ACRL-Oregon & Washington Joint Fall Conference 2006

Resistance Is Futile: Academia Meets the NeXt Generation

October 26-27, 2006

Menucha Conference Center, Corbett, Oregon

As the 'born digital' teen population enters college, its highly interactive and creative online culture will intersect with the academic environment. It is yet to be determined how each will change because of the encounter. We will explore some of the possibilities. Please join your colleagues for two days of interesting discussion, beautiful scenery, and great company.

Confirmed speakers:

Dr. Anthony Bernier, San Jose State University. Topics: Youth literacy, information-seeking practices, and national youth-produced media.

Jessamyn West, Librarian.net blog Topics: Technology, libraries & more!

Rachel Bridgewater, Washington State University-Vancouver Topic: Academic libraries and learning.

Facilities:

Once again, the setting for the fall conference is the rustic Menucha Retreat and Conference Center, situated atop a bluff overlooking the Columbia Gorge near Corbett, Oregon. The picturesque lodge, spacious gardens, and winding paths make this an exceptionally pleasant location.

Be sure to bring clothes that layer easily (attendees go in- and out-doors regularly) and rain gear. We also encourage you to bring puzzles & games for Thursday evening entertainment!
